Team Decatur News

Congratulations to Team Decatur member Pat Godbee who ran the Peachtree Road Race on the 4th of July. Pat joined Team Decatur last year to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk held in downtown Decatur. She was one of 143 members. This year our goal is to have at least 250 on the team. Have you signed up yet?

You do not have to be a runner to join-we have many members who are just starting out with their walking and/or running programs. We will begin our training walks and runs on July 18 as part of the eight week training program offered to those who register for the event. Runs and walks are held in various places in Decatur thanks to our local running stores and Decatur Active Living, who will schedule and lead them.

I got an email the other day from Team Decatur member, Al Natanagara who wanted us to know how much participating in the program has helped him:

“I plan on completing all six Team Decatur Challenge races this year. I only began running last June, and when I read about the challenge, it became a major motivation to develop a routine. Since then, I’ve lost 65 pounds, my blood pressure has dropped to healthy levels, and I feel 20 years younger. My two young daughters are proud Decatur-ites who cheer me on at every finish line–that’s a sight worth working hard for. ”

Whether you want to get fit, improve your fitness level, or just have fun and get to know new Decaturites,  join us for the training and the September Kaiser Permanente Run/Walk and Fitness Program. To get more information on the KP and to register, click here. Be sure to select Team Deatur as your team.

Team Members receive a Team Decatur t-shirt to wear to the event and gather before and after the “race” in our team tent.

Do you have a photo or yourself in your TD shirt from the Peachtree? Send it to cheryl.burnette@decaturga.com and we will post it.
