Lace up your running shoes! It’s time for the most family-friendly 5K in all of Decatur! On April 29, Beat the Street for Little Feet, hosted by the Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool and proudly presented by Stivers Subaru, will celebrate 10 years of family fun, running and original art by New York Times bestselling author James Dean, creator of Pete the Cat.

Beat the Street 5K is a participating race in the Team Decatur Grand Prix series. More information at decaturga.com/teamdecatur.

Event highlights:

  • 5K run/walk course with a popular stroller division
  • One-mile fun run
  • Tot trot (so even the littlest runners can participate)
  • Family-friendly activities (games, music, dancing)

Signing up for a walk, run or ride with a charity that you support is a fun way to commit to moving more. You’ll be able to offer your help to others and you may feel motivated to stick to your exercise regimen to meet your new challenge!

Run With the Dogs is January 21 – First Race in the NEW Team Decatur Grand Prix Series

If there is a fitness-related goal on your list of New Year’s resolutions, put the January 21st Run With The Dogs 5K and 1-mile Pup Trot on your calendar. If you have a canine companion, this is a unique opportunity for the two of you to spend some quality outdoor time together.

Come  out and support Decatur High and Renfroe Middle School athletics by participating in the 12th annual Decatur Bulldog Boosters’ Run With The Dogs 5K — with or without a dog.  If you or your 4-legged friend are looking for a shorter distance, this year there is also a new 1-Mile Pup Trot.  One registration fee allows you to do the 5K and the 1-mile Pup Trot.  You can do one or do both!

This year’s event will take place Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Decatur High School  — Pup Trot at 8:30 AM and the 5K at 9:00 AM.

Team Decatur Time!

decatur-kp-challenge-poster-2016-webJoin Team Decatur for the annual KP Corporate Run Walk 5K held in downtown Atlanta on Thursday, September 22, 2016. This is the last year that Team Decatur will participate so you won’t want to miss it! The City of Decatur has participated in the KP Corporate Run/Walk for five years and wants to make the 6th year the best yet!

Team Decatur members register online and join the “team”. All members who register will receive a special Team Decatur t-shirt to wear at the event in September, as well as join other members in the Team Decatur tent before and after the event. We will gather to celebrate our walk/run and enjoy food and beverages from local restaurants. This year we will have special surprises including a DJ and trophies! Decatur knows how to throw a party, and this will be no exception!  Register by August 31 to reserve the coveted t-shirt in your size. After that date, sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Register for the KP Corporate Run/Walk to be on Team Decatur

Team-Decatur-2016-webThis is the last year that Team Decatur will participate in the KP Corporate Run/Walk so don’t miss out! All you have to do is register for the KP 5K here. We will order you a special Team Decatur shirt for the event, which will be held on September 22 in downtown Atlanta. We have a large tent with catered food from Zest and beverages donated by Oakhurst Market.  It is a lot of fun and a great way to make new friends who enjoy walking and running.

This will also be the last year to earn a coveted Team Decatur jacket for the Grand Slam Fitness Challenge. Run or walk three races and the KP and you will be a CHAMPION! Awards will be given out in January of 2017 at the Run With the Dogs 5k.

A Dancer’s Heart 5k Is June 11

The 5th Annual “A Dancer’s Heart 5k” will be held on Saturday, June 11. The 5k is part of the Team Decatur race series so be sure to register for this great event. A Dancer’s Heart Inc., is non-profit organization based in Atlanta, GA. Our mission is to support, inspire and help youth succeed. Our vision is to operate an organization that makes a difference in the lives of children and youth and through charitable, educational and awareness activities. We focus our efforts in three main areas:
• Supporting young dancers through the development of the whole person, equipping them with the skills they will need to succeed, (leadership, character, respect of self and others, and community service).
• Improve the awareness of Group B Strep and Bacterial Endocarditis through education and supporting clinical research
• Serve as an advocate and resource in the community to support emergency medical planning for children

Join us on April 30th for the 9th Annual Beat The Street For Little Feet race benefiting Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool (OCP)! The beloved Pete the Cat t-shirt with art work by James Dean will be back and the race will incorporate a 5k (including electronic timing), 1 mile and a Tot Trot run making it a true family friendly event! Race day includes a children’s activity area with tables created by OCP parents and teachers, local vendors offering discounts, product demos and a shoe donation area. Bonus! This race is also a Team Decatur, Grand Slam Fitness Challenge qualifying event!

The race day schedule is as follows:

7:00 am: Packet pick-up and race day registration open

8:00 am: 5K Race

Immediately after 5K finish: 1 Mile Race

Immediately following the 1 Mile: Tot Trot
