City of Decatur a Let’s Move City!
October 15, 2010 2 Comments
The City of Decatur has become a partner city in the First Lady’s Let’s Move program! The goal of this program is to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a geneartion, so that children born today reach adulthood at a healthy weight.
Did you know that the obesity rate in America has tripled in the last three decades? Nearly one in three children in the United States is overweight or obese. This puts them at a greater risk for health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and asthma.
The City of Decatur and Decatur Active Living has made a commitment to help not only our children, but adults as well, to increase their physical activity opportunities. We will be posting information on this blog, as well in other city publications in the coming months. We look forward to seeing a more active Decatur!

Congratulations Decatur. The City of Decatur sets a great example from the City Manager playing tennis, to seniors working out and toddlers in City of Decatur parks. Keep moving Decatur.
This is great! I’m inspired to go take a walk!
