Park Renewal Day 2010- Connecting People and Greenspace

Park Renewal Day begin three years ago and this year’s event was a blast.  Twelve teams showed up at Dearborn Park ready to work and  braved the cold weather last Saturday morning.  This event was a collaborative effort between Renewal Design Build, DeKalb County and the City of Decatur Active Living.  Thanks to all the teams pulling out privet and eradicting ivy at Dearborn Park.  Congratulations to Decatur High School  Close Up Club and the Ivy League from the Midway Woods Neighborhood Association for sharing the first place honors.  Second Place- P.I.G.S. (People in Gloves Pulling Ivy Gleefully) from Decatur First United Methodist.  Third Place- Beast of the Brush from the Academe of the Oaks. Celebrity judges City of Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd and Mike Glenn, Atlanta Hawks TV Analyst.  Dearborn Park experienced live music, hot dogs and plenty of volunteers to enhance this great green space.  Mark your calendar – November 12, 2011 for Park Renewal Day.
