Let’s give a big Decatur welcome to the new football coach at Decatur High School – Brad Waggoner. Coach Waggoner comes to Decatur from Chattooga High School where he served as head football coach and athletic director for the past 3 years. His wife, Mary Beth, is a school counselor and teacher and they have a 5 month old son, Brad Jr. Coach Waggoner and his wife are excited to be a part of the Decatur community.
Coach Waggoner grew up in Fayetteville, GA and attended Landmark Christian High School before attending Georgia Tech where he played football. He then went on to finish his football playing career at Liberty University. Coach Waggoner told us “It has been my life-long goal to be a football coach and to work to help kids be successful in life. I have had the great opportunity to coach in the college level at Alabama, VMI, and University of West Alabama before going back to the high school level to coach. Over the past eight years as a head football coach, we have gone to the State Playoffs six times, won the Region Championship twice, and have advanced to the quarterfinal once.”
“What sold me on this job is the potential that exists at Decatur High School. I am so looking forward to working with all the children of the City of Decatur and I am proud to say I am the head football coach at Decatur,” added Waggoner. “Go Bulldogs!”
We all look forward to working with our new Coach!
