Scott Park Garden Meet up

Those gardens with well-drained soil have survived this rainy season and the harvest is on! Here at our garden the same is true. Our master gardeners and community gardeners meet this Thursday for a potluck featuring a local garden harvest prepared and served in our new chef’s kitchen and cafe: Insalata Mista Alfresco! Insalata meaning salad, Mista, meaning mixed, and Alfresco, dining in a cool place or open air.
The idea is to bring something fresh from your garden or fresh from the market or food based on seasonal offerings that would be part of a great salad or salad bar, or an accompaniment such as herbs, nuts, olives, cheese, etc. We’ll gather in the Rec Center kitchen to prepare and serve the salad. Since our meeting time is just 1.5 hours, please bring items that are fairly easy and quick to prepare, or if you prefer, prep in advance and bring ready to eat.
The dedicated group of 29 gardeners follow it up with a monthly work day on Saturday at 9am. The Scott Park Organic Community Garden is located behind the Decatur Recreation Center at the edge of the childrens playground. Stroll through anytime and check out the beautiful work of the locals who each maintain a plot here, but please leaves the fruits of their labor for them to enjoy.

Our garden has a facebook page featuring photos of flowers, vegetables, natives plants that we feature. Take a look and Like us!
