Join us for the second annual Metro Atlanta Tour de
Farm on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday October 13th – a
unique two day bicycle tour* of urban farms, including world class meals and an
overnight camping trip on a local farm site. Proceeds from the event will
benefit Community Farmers Markets and the participating sites.
All of the farms, gardens, and value-added producer sites are
vendors or partners of the East Atlanta Village, Grant Park, or Decatur Farmers
Markets. Each farm or vendor site represents
a unique aspect of local sustainable agriculture, offering a great learning
experience for the local cyclist, gardener and foodie. Riders have the option
of participating in the whole tour with camping, for one day only, or only for
the dinner and overnight camping option.
All meals and snacks will be provided and primarily
sourced from the farms on the tour and other market vendors. Dinner will
feature a local celebrity chef. Guests should bring their own cycling and
camping gear, with the option to rent from CFM if needed. CFM will provide
transport for all food and gear. Riders are only expected to carry water
between farms. The ride will be physically challenging and participants are
expected to have urban cycling experience. Each day will be over 20 miles of
riding. Ride leaders and mechanics will be present. A free bicycle check and
urban test ride will be offered prior to tour if needed.
There are limited spaces for the tour, so please
sign up early. Please direct any questions to ashleynrouse@gmail.com. Raffle prizes
for early registration include a garden consultation from Edible Yard &
Garden and a 1-hour massage from Atlanta Massage Therapy (valued at $70).
