We Are Parks & Recreation: Stacy Green

Stacy Green is a native of the City of Decatur.  She was born and raised in the City of Decatur and grew and participated in programs at both Ebster  Center and  Decatur Recreation Department.

Stacy has worked for Decatur Active Living for 25 plus years where she is the Supervisor for Athletics.  She has earned her CYSA certification (Certified Youth Sports Administrative) and is a GRPA (Georgia Recreation and Parks Association) and NRPA (National Recreation Park Association) member.   Her responsibilities as Athletic Supervisor is to oversee the daily operation of both Youth and Adult Sports, recruiting coaches, supervising full-time, part-time and seasonal staff, maintaining a field and facility usage schedule and agreement with the City Schools of Decatur, Boys and Girls Club and Decatur DeKalb YMCA.

Stacy is responsible for the on going collaboration with the City of Decatur School System, Decatur Housing Authority, Decatur DeKalb YMCA, PSG and MAYLA.  She takes pride in the fact that she provides every kid the opportunity to play despite his or her religious, ethnic and socioeconomic background.   Since being the Athletic Supervisor she has incorporated Flag football, Tackle Football, Ultimate Frisbee and competitive basketball to the list of programs offered to Decatur Residents.   You can find Stacy at Decatur Active Living using her skills, ambition and knowledge to help participants by providing a quality programs that are fun, rewarding and safe environment for all involved.

When Stacy isn’t working at Decatur Active Living she serves as CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for Dekalb County. She also volunteers with the Women’s Rape Crisis Center and Women’s Recourse Center.  She serves as a Mentor to single moms and teenagers.  She participates in the “Adopt a Family for the Holidays” program.  Since her recent fight and victory over breast cancer, she now mentors and supports women that are dealing with breast cancer.  When Stacy isn’t working or volunteering her time she enjoys reading, writing, sleeping and traveling.
