Saturday
Start the day off with a bicycle ride to Stone Mountain. Join Decatur Bikes for a no-drop ride with friendly people. Meet in the CVS parking lot across from the store  by 8 am and join the fun.

Looking for a shorter more instructive ride? The two Mikes will lead an Intro to Group Riding at 1:30 pm. Meet in the parking lot of Glenwood School. More information is here.

Take a class at The Wylde Center. There is a chicken class and a solar hot water class this Saturday. Click here to check out their offerings.

Sunday
Take a ride or walk over to Woodlands Garden. The garden is open to the public every day during daylight hours. Click here for more information. Parking is limited so you will want to walk, bike or park at Westchester and walk over.

Weekend Bike Ride and A Seed Swap

Decatur Bikes Ride to Stone Mountain Saturday
Put some air in the tires, fill your water bottle, strap on your helmet and join the Decatur Bikes Saturday morning ride to Stone Mountain. The riders will meet in the CVS parking lot across from Decatur Bikes in downtown Decatur at 8 am. The ride is a casual no-drop ride and all levels are welcome.

Seed Swap at the Wylde Center: Save Your Seeds and SHARE!

“Join us for a free event in the garden and let’s share tomatoes, celebrate their flavors, stories, and learn how to save seeds! We will gather at the Oakhurst Garden at 10am. Complimentary coffee will be provided by local coffee shop Kavarna, so bring your mugs!  At 10:30am the presentations and seed saving demos will commence.  After we learn from our experts, we will taste and share our summer fruits. Ride Your Bike in Decatur This Weekend

Grab your bicycle and join one or both of these group rides on Saturday. Helmets are required for both rides. clipart-bicycle

Decatur Bikes is leading a morning ride:  The group will meet at 8 am in the CVS parking lot across from the shop.  It is a no drop ride and will be at a social pace (beginner to intermediate).  The route is to Stone Mountain along the Path and back.  Everyone is welcome.

Sam’s Frieght Room Ride meets every Saturday at 2 pm for an easy 11 mile ride through Avondale, Oakhurst and Decatur. This is also a no-drop ride and all levels are welcome. Special attention is given to beginning riders. ( I have been on this ride and they really do take care of us slower riders!) Afterwards the group will do to a local establishment for refreshments and socializing. The ride leaves from 415 E Howard Avenue, across from the Old Train Depot.

 

Stop By Decatur Bikes Friday for Bike to Work Day Energizer Station

The week of May 14 – 18th is National Bike to Work Week. The City of Decatur is participating in Bike to Work Day this coming Friday, May 18th with an energizer station at Decatur Bikes.

Plan to ride your bike to work and stop by Decatur Bikes located at 252 West Ponce de Leon Avenue between 7 and 10am to grab a complimentary cup of coffee and some pastry.

Join Bike Decatur Saturday for Lube, Air and a Ride

The Bike Decatur group will be at the Decatur Farmer’s Market this Saturday, May 12, offering free lubes and air from 9:30 until 10:30am. Then at 10:30, they will lead a 10 mile leisurely family-friendly ride around Decatur. Stop by, get your bicycle oiled and the tires filled and then have fun riding and meeting new friends.

Next Friday, May 18 is National Bike to Work Day, so get ready to ride!
Stop by Decatur Bikes  from 7-10am during your bike commute and have a complimentary cup of coffee and a pastry.
