Volunteer for the Decatur Book Festival!

Hello Friends of the AJC Decatur Book Festival,

It’s official! The Decatur Book Festival is kicking off on August 30th and would love to have you as part of the Volunteer Decatur Team.

The DBF is one of the largest events in the City of Decatur and will take place August 30, 31 and September 1. It’s going to be an amazing event.

They have a lot of fun volunteer opportunities open, so log into your Volunteer Decatur account to check them out!  Be sure to move the calendar to September to see the Sunday schedule.

Also, be sure to check out the schedule for the festival at decaturbookfestival.com and see if your favorite authors will be there.

If you have friends or family who are interested in volunteering, but don’t yet have a volunteer Decatur account, ask them to visit Volunteer Decatur to sign up for their very own profile so they can join in the fun!

A Very Generous Community

Bags of Gifts Waiting to Be Distributed

Yesterday, I stopped by to drop off gifts for “A Season of Giving – Christmas Decatur” and was happy to see how many bags of gifts were waiting to be distributed. Santa has been very busy in Decatur – many thanks to all those who participate. It feels good to belong to a community that cares about each other and gives with either their time, money or both to ensure that everyone has some joy over the holidays.

Last year, the community’s generosity allowed this program to provide holiday gifts for more than 550 children and senior citizens. I am willing to bet that number has grown in 2010.
