Chess and Active Living: Why Not?

When you think “chess”, you may not think “active living”. But chess is a great activity to do in a city park or on the square. See below for info. on the Ironman Chess Club of Decatur, and Georgia Chess, with their upcoming 6th Annual Georgia Senior Open, this October at Emory U., just a few miles from downtown Decatur.

Open to: All players born before October 4, 1959.
Format: 4-SS, G/100(+30) – 100 minutes per player plus a 30 second per move time increment
Sections: Open: $200-140-100; U2000: $120 & Prizes U1800/Unrated: $120-80: C, D, U1200/Unrated: each $100. All prizes 100% guaranteed!
Entry Fee: $40 if age 50, $35 if age 60, $30 if age 70 if received by October 1, 2009.
All $5 more later or at site.

Rounds: 12:00 pm – 5:30 pm on Saturday, 10/3; 10:00 am – 3:30 pm on Sunday, 10/4
One ½ point bye available any round. Must commit when entering. No changes.

The first part of Rule 15C will not be in effect – a player in time pressure must still keep score.
