Join Fleet Feet’s Free Run and Walk Group!

From our friends at Fleet Feet Decatur:

Win prizes, stay healthy and support Team Decatur with our new fun run/walk program “Grand Slam All Stars”, beginning January 5. You earn points for attending each Fleet Feet Runnersfun run/walk and participating in select local races. When you reach a certain point level, participants will win prizes from our sponsors, Brooks, Nike, Saucony and Mizuno.

Grand Slam All Stars helps support the Decatur Active Living Department’s Grand Slam Challenge, which encourages residents to participate in four of six local races during the year.

Here’s how you can participate in Grand Slam All Stars:

– Join our fun runs/walks on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.
– Earn points based on the following:
  – 2 points for each fun run/walk you attend
  – 6 points for race you attend
  – 1 point for each race participant you bring
– Win prizes based on the number of points you accumulate each quarter:
  – First Base Prize = 15 points
  – Second Base Prize = 30 points
  – Home Run Prize = 45 points
  – The participants with the highest point totals will be entered in a drawing each quarter to win a free pair of shoes
– Participate all year long, from January 5, 2011 to November 2011!

We’ll provide maps of 2, 3 and 4 mile routes. Walkers and runners of all levels (from Decatur and beyond) are welcome!
