Bikes are Registered and Children Learn Bike Safety
July 11, 2011 2 Comments
Thanks to everyone who came out for our first Bike Registration and Safety Fair held last Saturday. The Decatur Police Department registered 40 bikes and lots of children (and adults) rode the safety course and learned about bicycle safety. Thanks to our volunteers, City Police, Firefighters, and Active Living Staff for making the event a success. Thanks also to Bicycle South who provided free bicycle safety and helmet checks.
We plan to do another Bicycle Registration in early 2012 and will do more Safety Training in the spring. In the meantime, enjoy photos from the event as well as a video created by Hugh Simpson. Hugh has created a website to promote walking and biking in Decatur and Avondale Estates.
Great recap of the event and this was a great start for the biking community. Awesome teamwork between the various city departments- Fire, Police and Active Living.
Looks like a great event. Yall look good on your bikes, there, Cheryl and Greg.
