Looks Like a Good Weekend to Play Outside!

Wow! We may actually have a nice weekend without rain! So what are YOU going to do?

Here are some suggestions:

  • Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon at one of Decatur’s greenspaces or parks.
  • Walk the trails at Hidden Cove Park or Glenn Creek Nature Preserve
  • Stroll through Woodlands Garden any day during daylight hours.
  • Take a ride or stroll through Decatur Cemetery. Follow the walking tour map to discover the history there. Maps are available here or stop by the Decatur Visitor’s Center to pick one up.
  • Play tennis.

Saturday:
Decatur Bikes leads a casual, no drop ride to Stone Mountain. Meet in the CVS parking lot at 8 am. Good group of folks and they will not leave you in the dust. Trust me- they were patient and waited for me.

Sam’s Freight Room Ride, 2 pm. Meet across from the Old Train Depot on West Howard STreet. A no-drop ride through Avondale, Oakhurst and Decatur. Refreshments at a local watering hole after the ride.

Sunday:
Sunday in the Garden at Woodlands, 2 -4 pm. Stroll through the gardens and listen to music at the pavilion. Nice way to escape without having to actually leave Decatur! Consider walking or biking over as parking is limited. You can also park at Westchester and stroll over from there.

Table Tennis at Decatur Recreation Center, 10 am – 1 pm. Free to residents, $2 for non-residents. All levels are welcome.

Indoor Soccer at the Recreation Center, 3:15 – 5:15 pm. Free to residents.

Whatever you do, stay active in Decatur!!
