It’s Bike to Work Week!
May 16, 2016 3 Comments
May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.
May 16 – 20 is National Bike to Work Week. Try it out for a day or for all week and see how much fun you can have on your way to work.
Bike Commuter Energizer Station: On Friday, May 20 stop by the Decatur Recreation Center from 7 – 10 a.m. for our annual Bike Commuter Energizer Station. Not only will you get some treats from our friends at Good Measure Meals, but you can meet the folks from GA Commute Options and find out how you can get money for commuting without your car.
Third Friday Bike Ride: Then join Decatur Active Living as we continue our Third Friday Bike Ride on Friday evening, May 20 at 6:30 pm. This month we will ride 5-6 miles viewing public art since May is also Arts Month in Decatur.

I would so like to participate! However, I’ve had 2 spinal surgeries and still working on walking better. However, I am determined after teaching 37 years in elementary school. I used to ride all the time and even entered a race about 25 years ago! If you know of anyone who has a three wheel bike they no longer want or want to sell at at reasonable price, please let me know. I will be 64 in August!
Thanks,
Steve McKnight
Steve, Active Living will be offering a bike class for seniors called Silver Spokes and there will be adult trikes! More info at decaturga.com/biking or contact Tracie Sanchez. It will start as soon as we get the new trikes.
Thanks so much, Cheryl! I did see the news about the new 3 wheelers and that will give me a chance to experience one before trying to buy. Take care, Steve
