The 11th annual Beat the Street for Little Feet 5k, hosted by Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool and proudly presented by Stivers Subaru, will be held on Saturday, April 21st 2018! This year’s race coincides with Earth Day and we’ve got lots of fun activities planned that encourage sustainability and eco-consciousness.
The event includes a 5K, 1-mile, and a 500-yard Tot Trot which all start and end at the preschool which is located in historic downtown Oakhurst. The stroller division attracts a lot of families and the original Pete the Cat artwork by New York Times Bestselling Author James Dean always draws a crowd!
During and after the race, there will be all kinds of family friendly activities, including crafts, games, music, and dancing. You can also enjoy delicious treats from local favorites like Revolution Doughnuts, Steel City Pops, and Banjo Coffee. After the race, runners big and small will be recognized in an awards ceremony, including our popular Pete medals for the kids.
Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool is a nonprofit, parent-teacher cooperative, and this event is a perfect opportunity for the school to share with Decatur our two most important goals – creating community and nurturing respect for the earth.
Race operations are designed to have as little environmental impact as possible, and proceeds will benefit operations and special projects at the school, including our environmental curriculum and our tuition assistance program.
