Bicycling Has a New Look…and it’s Fashionable!

1459267_10153526183540512_307627863_nThe second annual Vintage and Tweed Ride was Saturday in Decatur and traveled through Decatur Station, Oakhurst, Kirkwood, and Adair Park and was sponsored by Houndstooth Road, Square Foot, KenBikeLaw, and Marlay House. About 100 fashionistas donned their best tweed or vintage gear and bicycled to town to gather as a group for this social bike ride. The pace was leisurely, well signed for you to follow easily, allowed for stops at numerous local businesses, and traveled on quieter neighborhood streets for most of the route and was enjoyed by families of all ages. New trends like this illustrate the comeback that cycling is making as an option for the entire family for recreation and leisure, regular transportation, and as a social group activity. After all, everyone remembers how to ride a bike, right? Pre- and post-ride festivities included gathering to register at Square Foot on the Decatur Square where we enjoyed a day-of discount, and being part of a group photo, and refreshments at the Marlay House.
