Third Friday Bike Ride: Halloween Edition!

Join Active Living Director Greg White for the October Third Friday FUN Bike Ride on October 21st. This month’s ride will have a Halloween theme – we will ride by homes decorated for the holiday. Feel free to dress up yourself and/or your bike.

This ride is a slow-paced 6 mile ride and is suitable for all levels. After the ride, we will stop at a local watering hole for refreshments.

Meet in front of the Decatur Recreation Center and be ready to ride at 6:30 p.m.

Helmets and lights are required.

Decatur Third Friday Bike Ride Returns in April!

Join Decatur Active Living for the return of the Third Friday Fun Bike Ride on April 17th. We will meet at the Decatur Recreation Center, just a short hop from the Decatur MARTA station, 231 Sycamore Street. The ride will go through scenic Decatur neighborhoods at a slow pace and is family friendly. We leave the Recreation Center at 6:30 pm.  After we ride, we will visit a local watering hole for refreshment. Helmets are required and lights are strongly suggested for your ride home. This is an all-levels ride and  no one will be left behind! There is parking available in the shared lot behind the Library.

Decatur Third Friday Fun Bike Ride, July 18

Join Decatur Active Living for our Third Friday Fun Bike Ride tomorrow night, July 18. Meet at the Church Street entrance to the MARTA station and be ready to roll at 6:30 pm. We will explore Oakhurst via Agnes Scott and a little known trail will take us to Oakview Road.

This is a no-drop ride and all levels are welcome. Helmets are required.

After the ride, we will visit a local wateringhole for social time.

Join Decatur Active Living for a fun, social 5-mile ride around Decatur. Meet at the Church Street MARTA Station and be ready to ride at 6:30 pm. We will ride through neighborhoods, the Decatur Cemetery, Glenlake Park and end on the Old Courthouse Square just in time to either hear the music at the Decatur Beach Party, or find refreshment at a local eatery or pub. This month the theme is “Beach Wear” so wear something “beachy”. All levels are welcome and helmets are required.

Look for us at the MARTA station- we will be the ones with the bikes wearing beach clothes!

Stop by the Decatur Recreation Center on your way to work for coffee, juice and pastries and get energized for your bike commute! We will have NEW I Bike Decatur shirts for sale for $20 (cash or check), visitors from the CleanAir Campaign, Bike Maps and pins, and more. Rain or shine! Decatur Recreation Center is located at 231 Sycamore Drive, just a block from the Decatur MARTA Station.  FREE shirt compliments of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and Fallen Arrows for first ten arrivals who have signed up for the National Bike Challenge. #BTWD2014

 

Children’s Bike Rodeo Saturday, May 17, 10 am – 1 pm
Decatur Active Living has joined forces with Mike Sheehan and Neil Walker to put on a Children’s Bike Rodeo in the Callaway Lot, located at the corner of Trinity Place and Commerce Drive, across from the DeKalb County Parking Deck in downtown Decatur. Children will learn the A-B-Cs of Bike Safety, traffic skills, fun games, and more. The event is FREE. Helmets are required. #ibikedecatur

Decatur Bikes Ride to Stone Mountain, May 17, 8 am
Join Decatur Bikes for a Saturday morning ride to Stone Mountain. Meet at the CVS lot across from the store at 7:45 am and be ready to ride at 8 am. This is a conversational pace, no drop ride. No ride if raining. Helmets are required. Decatur Bikes will be doing these rides  throughout the summer. #ibikedecatur

Bicycle South Ride to Stone Mountain, May 18, 9 am
Join Bicycle South for a ride to Stone Mountain. Meet in the Bicycle South parking lot and be ready to ride at 9 am. This is a fun, no-drop ride. Helmets are required. Snacks at the store after the ride. #ibikedecatur
