This Wednesday, September 27, is National Women’s Health and Fitness Day and Decatur Active Living has a free class for you! This year’s theme is ““Make the Healthy Choice…Get Active!” and Bobbie Elzey is offering her class for free this Wednesday. Join Bobbie at 9 am for Aerobic Dance or at 10:15 am for Functional Exercises for Seniors. Both classes are held at the Decatur Recreation Center.
This is also Healthy Aging Week so you may want to join us on Wednesday at 10 am for 50+ Walks. We walk 2-3 miles at a conversational pace. Meet new friends as you enjoy an invigorating walk around the City.

The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA)is holding a state-wide food drive for both canned food for the food banks and pet food for the animal shelters in Columbus, GA. Columbus is our host for the 2017 Annual GRPA conference and we would like to thank them by giving back to their community. All items should be delivered to the Decatur Recreation Center located at 231 Sycamore Street no later than November 3 for delivery to Columbus on November 6th.
On Friday, September 22, the City of Decatur will join with people across the globe to participate in World Car Free Day – a time for community members to come together to explore the benefits of walking, biking, using public transit and carpooling to get us where we need to go.
