New Pavilions and Concession Buildings Coming to McKoy and Oakhurst Parks
Construction will begin this week on new picnic pavilions and concession buildings at both McKoy and Oakhurst Parks.
The pavilions and concession buildings at McKoy and Oakhurst Parks were built almost 40 years ago. The picnic pavilion in McKoy Park and the concession building in Oakhurst Park were renovated in the mid-1990s. Except for miscellaneous repairs, none of these buildings have been improved since.
In addition to the general objective of providing modern pavilions and concession buildings, restrooms will be provided that can be used during the winter months. Presently, existing restrooms in both parks are not winterized and are not available during cold weather. Site improvements will improve accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as providing storm drainage facilities to meet City code requirements.
An accelerated construction schedule provides for completion of the work in February, 2017. Both parks will remain open during construction but parking will be limited and residents and visitors should avoid construction areas.
Consider walking or biking to the parks!
