Clear the Sidewalk Day is Saturday, August 7th

The City of Decatur requests all property owners prune their trees and shrubs to clear the sidewalks and streets.

With school beginning this week, clear sidewalks will make it safer for students to walk safely to school, and make it safer for all pedestrians to walk (or roll) in front of your property without having to go into the street. Pruning your tree will also help keep them from being damaged by trucks and cars.

Recreation Centers Open August 2 for Classes and Open Gym

Decatur Recreation Center and Ebster Recreation Center will open on Monday, August 2nd for classes, programs and open gym.

We are following COVID protocols and visitors will be greeted with the following upon entering:

*Temperature Checks
*Sign-in via QR code or Contract tracing notebook
*Facemasks are required when entering the building, moving through the building, or while waiting for open gym play. You may remove your mask while participating in exercise.

The following programs will be offered:

*Adult and Senior Programming
*Exercise Programming at Decatur Rec.
*Adult Open Gym Activities
*Youth Open Gym Activities

Parks and Recreation Month comes to an end!

Parks and Recreation Month is coming to an end but our programming continues on. Our last scheduled program for the month was our Wednesday Walks with a Special Guest. This week we had the pleasure of Mayor Garrett joining us to tell participants about Legacy Park and the future plans for the area. Legacy Park Caretaker – Doresy Nobles – led walkers through a tour of the beautiful Moore Chapel.

A sincere thank you to Mayor Garrett, Decatur City Commissioner Kelly Walsh, City Manager Andrea Arnold, and Active Living Board Member Jack Kittle for joining us for our Wednesday Walks in July. Participants enjoyed getting to know each special guest and learn more about each of the parks visited – Glenlake Park, Oakhurst Park, Hidden Cove, and Legacy Park.

Mobile Recreation Center hit the target!

Our Mobile Recreation Center hit the bullseye this month. We introduced Archery and saw our next Olympians. It’s a joy to see everyone having fun and being active. Stay tuned to learn when our Mobile Recreation Center will come to your neighborhood.

McKoy Pool Closed Today

Decatur Pool Hours Beginning on August 3

Due to a national lifeguard shortage, Decatur has modified the pool schedule as follows:

On weekdays, Ebster will be open from 9 am-12 pm for lap swim. Seniors will be admitted free with picture ID during those hours.

Glenlake will be open from 4 pm-8 pm on weekdays.

Glenlake, Ebster and McKoy pools will be open 10 am-6 pm on weekends.

Mobile Rec Center Rescheduled for July 26

The Mobile Recreation Center has been postponed until Monday, July 26, due to the chance of rain this afternoon. Join us on Ebster Field for some fun with outdoor games. All ages are welcome.

Join us for our 3rd Friday Bike Ride this Friday! Meet us in front of Decatur Recreation Center. This is a no drop ride. Wheels on the ground at 6:30 pm. Arrive early to see the Pedego eBike demo from Pedego Atlanta and receive a FREE 1-hour rental passes.
