Dali Crosswalk!

On a recent trip to the High Museum, I had to do a double take on this crosswalk sign. The Dali exhibit is currently at the museum, and the character in the sign is wearing a Dali mustache!

Note: we are not encouraging folks to deface signs! We are, however, encouraging you to walk around Decatur and use the crosswalks. Drivers- please be award of pedestrians in crosswalks and remember that they have the right of way.

Safe Routes to School at Clairemont Elementary Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning is Clairemont Elementary’s monthly Walk & Roll to School Day. They will have walking school buses from various points in the community where volunteers will meet and walk groups of children to school in the morning. Decatur’s Safe Routes to School program is a collaboration between the Decatur City Schools and the Active Living Department. Each of our four elementary schools have monthly Walk & Roll to School Days, and also participate in the International Walk & Roll to School Day in October and the Georgia Walk to School Day in March.

Keep your eyes open for children on their way to school and help to keep them safe. Remember to slow down during your morning commute, watch for children crossing at crosswalks and give them right of way, and be patient while they cross the road. We are working to keep our children active and healthy, as well as reduce car emissions around the schools.
