Decatur’s 12th Annual Decatur Barbeque, Blues & Bluegrass Festival is brought to you by three non-profit groups the Community Center of South Decatur, the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association and Decatur Active Living. Arrive Early and Chat with Olympian Jeff Galloway

The Team Decatur Get Active! Kickoff is tomorrow night, Tuesday, July 24 from 6-8pm in Harmony Park in Oakhurst!
The event begins at 6pm, but come early and have an opportunity to meet former Olympian Jeff Galloway. Jeff will be on hand from 5-6pm to meet attendees, sign autographs and give advice on running and staying active.

Team Decatur 239 Strong!!

This Could Be You Next Thursday!

Only a week left until the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk and Team Decatur is almost at our goal of 250 members. I know there are 11 of you out there that meant to sign up! It is not too late- you can register to participate in the annual 5K by visiting before 2pm on Wednesday, September 7th. Be sure to select Team Decatur from the drop down menu at the start of the registration process.

All Team Decatur members will receive a special t-shirt to wear during the race and are invited to join us at the Team Tent before and after the race. We will have some goodies from U Joint, Oakhurst Market and Nectar, as well as an opportunity to mingle and make new friends. For more information click here.

Team Decatur Hits the 220 Mark!!

Wow- what a great, active community we have….. 220 people have already registed to walk in the KP Corporate Run/Walk 5K with Team Decatur. We are going to be a large field of green shirts, showing the metro area that we are the “Most Fit City” again this year! (In case you didn’t know, the City of Decatur was awarded “Most Fit City” at the 2010 KP Corporate Run/Walk).

It is not too late to register to be a part of this great event. Simply go to to register; be sure to select Team Decatur from the pull down list.

Come walk with us! Active Living Staff is offering free training walks on  Monday nights at 6pm- meet in front of the Decatur Library; or Wednesday mornings at 8am – meet at the back door of Beacon Hill Center (behind the police station). I will be leading the walk tomorrow morning, so join me- we will make it fun!

We wanted to remind everyone to sign up for Team Decatur to compete in the KP Corporate Run/Walk to be held on Thursday, September 8th in downtown Atlanta. We have already surpassed last years numbers, and have a goal of 250 team members for 2011. Why sign up by August 8th? The registration fee is $24 through that date, then goes to $30.

We will be ordering our Team Decatur performance t-shirts next week, so sign up today to insure you receive one.
