Glenlake Pool will be open during the post-season on the following dates:

Saturday, September 12                10am-6pm

Sunday, September 13                   10am-6pm

Saturday, September 19                10am- 6pm

Sunday, September 20                  10am-6pm

Note: Glenlake Pool is not open during the week. Ebster Pool and McKoy Pool closed for the pool season on Monday, September 7.

Recreation Centers Closed July 3-5, Pools and Glenlake Tennis Center Open

July-4The Decatur Recreation Center and Ebster Recreation Center will be closed Friday, July 3  through Sunday July 5 for the 4th of July Holiday Weekend. We will reopen on Monday, July 6th.

Glenlake Tennis Center and the pools WILL be open for your enjoyment.

Be sure to join in or watch the annual Decatur 4th of July Parade starting at 6 pm, followed by the Callanwolde Concert Band at 7 pm and fireworks at dark. Information is here.

Opening Day Youth Baseball Parade a Huge Success

This morning we saw quality of life in Decatur with the support of the Opening Day Youth Baseball Parade.  Players in uniform, coaches, parents, grandparents, bikes, dogs and electric cars. Special Guest- Commissioner Kecia Cunningham, Mike Glenn- Atlanta Hawks, Clarence Scott- Cleveland Browns and he grew up in the Beacon community and Harry Flournoy- Texas Western NCAA Basketball Champions 1966 and Harry graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1966.  Thanks to Stacy Green, Lindsey Struck  and other Decatur Active Living staff for ogranizing the day. Thanks to the City of Decatur support from the parade permit, police and fire department.   Pictures from the parade and thanks Decatur.

Decatur Active Living had an activity and fun filled weekend!

Friday morning started off with our annual Bike To Work Breakfast in front of the Decatur Recreation Center. Lots of bike commuters stopped by for treats, information on cycling in Decatur and information from the Georgia Commute Options folks and the ladies from the East Decatur Greenway.

On Friday night, we held the Third Friday Fun Bike Ride and had a great time touring Decatur neighborhoods as well as making some new bike riding friends.

Saturday was filled with the Dedication of the Beacon Municipal Complex. We had visitors from all over the country as well as current Decaturites. There were even some of the past students from Herring Street School and Trinity High School. Visitors enjoyed “splits” as well as tours of the three buildings.

On the athletic front, we had Parent Baseball Meetings at Decatur Recreation. Decatur Active Living 2015 Spring Youth Soccer is coming to an end. DAL would like to thank all the coaches, parents and players for contributing to the success of the program.

Saturday was also National Kids to Park Day and DAL participated in the Garden Go Seek Your Park activity at both Scott Park and Glenlake Park. Visitors toured Scott Garden and had an opportunity to speak with gardeners and Master Gardeners about their garden plots.

Over at Glenlake Tennis Center, the annual Tennis Tournament was in its next to the last day. It got a little rained out Sunday afternoon so more play later this week. It is Time to Register for Camp in Decatur….Saturday, March 14th

Registration for all summer camps begins on Saturday, March 14, 8 – 11 am, online and at the Decatur Recreation Center in downtown Decatur.

You do not have to come in person to register!! Enjoy your morning with coffee, your bunny slippers and your computer to register via WebTrac.You can find an online copy of the lastest Playbook with all the camp descriptions and registration numbers here.

New to City of Decatur Camps?  Simply stop by the Recreation Center before registration day to get your household ID number and password. Paperwork must be completed in advance of registration day in order to allow online registration.

Touch a Truck is Saturday!!

Children of all ages are invited to touch, explore and see their favorite trucks and equipment on wheels this Saturday, March 7 from 10 am until 1 pm. The event takes place in the Callaway Parking lot located at 120 West Trinity Place. Free parking is available in the DeKalb County Parking deck adjacent to the event. Both City of Decatur and DeKalb County vehicles will be participating. This event is free to the community.

NEW!! Ride your bike to the event and have it registered by the Decatur Police. All who register a bike will receive a free bike pin.

Food Drive!  Bring a non-perishable food item to be collected by the Decatur Firefighters to “Feed the Hungry”. We are celebrating National Nutrition Month.
